Christopher Arceo

Christopher Arceo is a baritone, choral director and teacher of singing. Some of his roles include Schaunard (La Bohème), Rambaldo (La Rondine), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Geronimo (Il Matrimonio Segretto), Count Gil (Il Segretto di Sussana), among others.

He is founder and artistic director of ALERON, an all-male ensemble based in Manila that has established itself as a distinctive force in the Philippine choral scene for its bold, multi-disciplinary and innovative approach to concert programming. Under his leadership, Aleron won the topmost prizes in various international competitions in Manila, Korea, Japan, France and Germany. In 2017, Aleron was selected as one of the featured choirs at the World Symposium for Choral Music in Barcelona, Spain. In 2019, Arceo became the first non-European guest conductor at the Svenska Kyrkans Gosskörsförening, a biennial gathering of male choirs in Sweden.

His work as a voice pedagogue through his voice studio has guided some of the most prominent young singers in the Philippines today. With him, they have won competitions locally and internationally, and have received scholarships in prestigious schools such as the Northwestern Bienen School of Music, Bard College-Conservatory, Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

He studied voice with Cesar Ulloa and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Most recently, he completed his master’s degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy at the Pennsylvania State University under Dr. Norman Spivey. This fall, he will begin his doctoral studies in choral conducting at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.
