PALO ALTO CHRISTMAS CRÈCHE

The Palo Alto Christmas Creche is a free annual event featuring hundreds of nativity scenes from around the world, live music, and other attractions. The 38th annual exhibit will be held from December 6–10, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building, located at 3865 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto, CA.

On December 8 at 7pm, Bay Area-based singers from LALÒ, directed by co-founder Gianpaolo Eleria, will be performing a “Songs of Light” set at the Crèche Exhibit, celebrating the sounds and spirit of a Filipino-American Christmas.

VENI ET ILLUMINA

The LALÒ Ensemble and the Colgate University Chorus present a holiday celebration. The LALÒ Ensemble, a Filipino-American choral group, celebrate cultural diversity through music, sharing stories of heritage, struggle, and hope.

Featuring an octet from LALÒ from around the U.S.: Marion Jacob, Joy Tamayo, Johanne Veraque, Ryan Block, William Lim, Saunder Choi, Vladimir Avetisian, and Nathan Mangune, under the direction of Dr. Raoul Carlo (Miggi) F. Angangco.

Performed at the historic Holy Family Church, the oldest Catholic church in Glendale, the program offers an immersive choral experience that honors heritage and shared humanity.

Filipino Choral Music for Advent

Among LALO’s inaugural offerings with Artistic Director Dr. Raoul Carlo (Miggi) Angangco, Panunuluyan is inspired by the Filipino Christmas Eve tradition of re-enacting Mary and Joseph's journeying in Bethlehem in preparation for the Nativity.

Themes of continuing a journey, seeking shelter, yearning for home, awaiting dawn, and extending welcome will be explored through the works of Agot Espino, Robin Estrada, John Rutter, Ryan Cayabyab, Caroline Shaw, Gianpaolo Eleria, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Paulo K Tiról, Karl San Jose (LALÒ’s first WORLD PREMIERE commission), Saunder Choi, Raoul Carlo Angangco, George Frideric Handel, Lucio San Pedro, and George Hernandez.

Joining LALÒ for this performance are the FilAm Ministers of Music and Arts, Herald, Mater Dolorosa Music Ministry, St. Robert Church Music Ministry, and St. Robert School Choir.
