Darita Seth
Praised for his “technical deliciousness; power and precision of the connection between the colors of the voice; and beauty of delivery,” (Aspen Music Festival) Cambodian-American choral artist Darita Seth is excited for his first engagement with LALÒ. In a previous career as a countertenor, Darita has been featured in performances of choral masterworks including Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Durufle’s Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Handel’s Messiah, and in 2016, Darita concluded his countertenor tenure with Chanticleer. Most recently, his voice is featured singing Handel's "Ombra Mai Fu" in the film score to the movie The Tutor (2023). Alongside singing on the core roster of LA Master Chorale, he sings full time with the San Francisco Symphony; serves as Founding Artistic Director of Choral Audacity, a Bay Area-based chamber choir that seeks to amplify Queer, Disabled, and BIPOC voices; and is the Director of Choral & Vocal Music Studies at Santa Rosa Junior College where his students affectionately refer to him as “Lok Kru” (Khmer for “teacher”). Darita holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Capital University’s Conservatory of Music (Columbus, OH) and a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU Long Beach where the focus of his research centered on the soundscape of Third Culture Kids.
