Kyle Sanchez Tingzon
Filipino countertenor Kyle Sanchez Tingzon has been praised for his “powerful countertenor” (The Wall Street Journal) and his "lovely, plummy voice" (Opera Today).
In the 2024/25 season, Kyle made debuts in Munich, Germany and Gävle, Sweden, as well as a return to New York City, as a soloist in John Adams' masterpiece, El Niño. He also made his debut with Detroit Opera in a return to Goffredo in a familiar production of Rinaldo and returned to American Bach as a soloist in the concert series "Bach's Paradise."
His current season includes continued solo and ensemble work with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, American Bach, and Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Chorale.
Kyle made his solo debut with Pacific Opera Project in the U.S. premiere of Vivaldi’s Ercole su’lTermodonte. At Tacoma Opera, he sang the role of Father Hylebos in the world premiere of Gregory Youtz and Zhang Er’s Tacoma Method. At The Glimmerglass Festival, he was praised for “meltingly pretty tone” as Goffredo in Rinaldo (Bachtrack) in 2023 and “sang the demanding role [of Endimione] with beauty and stamina” in La Calisto in 2024 (Times Union).
Kyle earned his graduate and postgraduate degrees in vocal performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he sang the title role in Handel’s Giulio Cesare and Ottone in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea. He is first-prize winner of the Handel Aria Competition, third-prize winner of the Loren L. Zachary Society National Vocal Competition, and a Colorado-Wyoming district winner and Rocky Mountain regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.
