Marion Jacob

Marion Jacob (she/her) is a conductor, soprano, and mother. She is the founder and Artistic Director of Sine Nomine Choral Arts, and the Director of Music Ministries at St Elizabeth Church in Wilmington, Delaware. Marion holds a Masters degree in Choral Conducting from Westminster Choir College where she studied with James Jordan and Simon Carrington, an M.M. in Music History from Temple University, and a B.M. with distinction in Piano Performance from the University of Delaware.

Marion has previously held the position of Director of Westminster Choir College Chapel Choir, and was the Assistant Director of the five performing choirs of the Wilmington Children's Chorus, where she prepared ensembles for concerts and collaborations with Westminster Choir College’s Symphonic Choir, the Wilmington Ballet, and Delaware Choral Arts. In addition to teaching at Westminster, Marion has also taught at Temple University, University of Delaware, and Padua Academy.

Marion has participated in the Sarteano Chamber Choral Workshop as an Advanced Conductor with Simon Carrington and Tony Thornton, the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival as a singing Fellow, and the Westminster Choral Conducting Institute, where she worked with Donald Nally and Charles Bruffy. She is a member of The SameStream, and has been a member and soloist for Westminster Choir, Westminster Williamson Voices, the Chester County Choral Society, and the University of Delaware’s Schola Cantorum and Collegium Musicuum.

Being the daughter of French and Indian immigrants, Jacob has held a long-standing interest in ethnomusicology, exploring a wide range of music and dance from different cultures. Of particular interest are themes of community and resistance in music, both in historical and modern context. Marion currently resides in Staunton, VA, with her husband, Michael, and their daughters, Adeline and Solène.
